Becoming, 2010

Becoming is an installation made up of multiples of the form of a ladle - an object from my Granny's kitchen, evocative of family life and nourishment. Each of the ladles was slip-cast from the same mold and later manipulated by hand. The rhythmic changes in the form speak of a journey, change, and growth. The drawings serve as a stream of consciousness of seemingly random memories that for some reason stick with us, creating a frame of reference for whom we are and a platform for our sense of belonging.
